Reiki is universal life force energy. The word "Reiki" comes from the Japanese words REI - meaning universal and KI - meaning energy. Basically, it is healing energy which automatically goes to the area in your physical body or spirit where healing is most required. It is whole and complete energy and when treatment is given, allows us to recharge ourselves.

Reiki practitioners act as a conduit for healing Reiki energy for you, the client. This energy ensures that your entire spirit is in alignment by focusing on the elimination of blocks in your physical body and chakras (the main energy centres within you). When your chakras are clear and balanced, your own energy is able to move freely. As it does so, your personal energy strengthens on all levels: emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically.

When your energy is balanced and allowed to strengthen, your physical body and emotional spirit is better able to repair itself in many ways. It can relieve pain or discomfort in the physical sense, ease grief and/ or anxiety, as well as promote self-confidence, self-love, and a sense of security. Reiki will also provide healing energy for cancer and other sickness and dis-ease, and has been found to be a proven healing modality in many other areas as well. It is safe to receive Reiki anytime, anyplace, and in any situation, and can be combined with other healing methods and medical remedies.

This ancient, natural healing practice has become one of the most popular forms of alternative holistic healing because of the positive effects of treatment and the ability to promote healing on all levels.

Essentially, Reiki is about opening yourself up to the extraordinary world that lies within you. It's about self-awareness, connection, compassion, meditation, unconditional love, forgiveness, letting go, looking in, and ultimately, healing. Through this process of opening, your current perspective (on everything) naturally changes. You begin to live your life more fully, authentically, and with more presence and peace. Fundamentally, you begin to see life through the lens of love, thereby improving your connection to yourself and others.

Often, Reiki is a practice that is presented as a way to "heal" others. In reality, Reiki practitioners do not heal; they are channels that give. But, as we all know, you can't give away what you don't have. Which is why Reiki training will begin with self-healing, where the focus is to establish a daily practice of self-care. The more you open, the more you are able to receive. The more you receive, the more you have to give. Although you will learn techniques for working with others (and intensely in level 2 and 3, the emphasis, always (but especially in the beginning), is on self-healing.

My teaching style is more about conversations than lectures. I also believe that students learn more from doing and practicing, as opposed to merely sitting and listening. Therefore, the whole process is experimental in nature, and I plan to work closely with you, guiding you through your training every step of the way (as much or as little as you need).
